According to Adopt-a-Highway and road safety experts, sleep deprivation and fatigue make lapses of attention more likely to occur, and can play a major role in behavior that leads to crashes. Drowsy driving is dangerous to you and others on the road. In fact, being awake for 18 hours is equal to a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of 0.08%, the equivalent to being legally drunk.

Research has identified young males, shift workers, commercial drivers and people with untreated sleep disorders or with short-term or chronic sleep deprivation as being at the highest risk for a fall-asleep crash.

According to the National Sleep Foundation’s Sleep in America poll, 60% of Americans have driven while feeling sleepy and 37% admit to having fallen asleep at the wheel in the past year.

Industry First Driver Fatigue and
Distraction Monitoring System

driver fatigue monitoring system

ThinAir’s Driver Distraction Monitor (DDM) is an industry first driver fatigue and distraction monitoring system with real-time alerts. Our DDM combines a dash mounted, day / night, infrared illuminated camera with intelligent video algorithms to provide an easy to install, autonomous, turn-key solution.

The built-in video analytics are self-configuring and work by tracking driver’s eye lids and pupil dilation using proprietary algorithms. The system warns the driver with real time audible alerts when symptoms of fatigue or distracted driving are recognized.

The DDM camera is designed to be a proactive monitoring and warning tool when the camera is activated and onboard with the driver.

The autonomous DDM camera is integrated with our Fleet Management System for data collection, reporting, analysis and compliance to provide real-time alerts to remote fleet / safety managers. In addition, an infrared image of the Driver is sent to the web-based system and all alerts, location and images are stored as a historic log.

This powerful combination of driver and fleet manager alerts ensure a proactive approach to fleet operator as well as public safety.
